Know How to Care
01
Hair extensions add amazing length and volume to your hair. You want to make sure you're treating them right so that they'll last a long time and keep making you look great. It isn't hard to keep your extensions looking great, just take a few extra steps. It will be worth it!
*When first applied, the extension hair will feel very soft and almost limp. Once you shampoo your hair several times, the cuticles of the hair will expand and adapt to your own natural hair. For instance, if you have natural wavy hair, your extensions will follow the natural wave of your own hair. Also, your hair may feel thin, but the extension hair will expand and thicken up to give you more body and fullness.
02
Sleeping
*Many clients find using a satin pillowcase keeps their hair from tangling at night.
*If you are a rough sleeper, make sure to brush your extensions after you wake up to avoid any knots or tangles from forming into larger knots or tangles.
03
Brushing
*You will be provided with a brush for your extensions. It prevents tangling and is specially designed, so it won't pull or catch on the application points. Brush 2 to 3 times a day before showering or wetting hair. Hold the roots of your hair with one hand while brushing in a downward motion with the other. Brush gently and be particularly careful with the bonds. Never put tension on your extensions. It is best to not brush your extensions wet, only dry.
05
Washing
*Washing your hair daily and exercising often may cause your extensions to last a shorter time than if you do not have these habits.
*We recommend washing the hair as infrequently as possible and using a dry shampoo to absorb oils and make your hair feel and smell fresh. Certain hard or mineral intense water may also deteriorate bonds or the condition of the hair.
04
Detangling and styling
*Throughout the day your extensions may get tangled, and I suggest using a leave in conditioner or serum (midshaft and ends only) with the brush provided on the ends only holding your hair in a ponytail in a tight fist at the nape of your neck.
*Apply any oils or sprays from the mid shaft down, avoiding the bonds. Leave-in conditioners and hydrating oils are great for hair extensions, especially if they are feeling dry.
06
Swimming
* Be cautious in salty or chlorinated water. Salt and chlorine harm your hair extensions just like they harm your natural hair. You can put it in a loose ponytail or braid and pin it up to keep it up out of the water.
07
Maintenance
*If you lose any extensions, which is very likely to happen, I suggest that you keep those extensions in a Ziploc bag for your next visit. They are easily reinstalled.
*Schedule your first checkup visits no more than 5 weeks later. At this appointment we will assess how you maintained and cared for your extensions, when to make an appointment to have them moved up/ tightened and any further instructions based on your consultation.
08
At home coloring
*Don't chemically process the hair.
